BINSWOOD END HARBURY, HARBURY WARWICKSHIRE
"I have lived here now for 5 years," says Paul, the current owner, "and can really say that Harbury is a lovely village to live in, it's very friendly and has a really good community spirit. I liked the house immediately and the garden is just fantastic. Although, it was clear the house needed a bit of TLC, it didn't detract from its appeal and the potential it had to make it into the lovely modern family home it is today. I've had the exterior re-rendered and painted, block paving put down in the driveway, all the soffits and bargeboards have been replaced and I've also laid a decking area in the garden. The house now has three really good double bedrooms. The interior is in soft neutral colours so it is a really nice canvas, just waiting for a family to put their own stamp on it."
"I've loved living here," continues Paul "you have the best of both worlds. You do feel you are right out in the country, and yet the village has everything you could need with shops, a pharmacy and Doctors surgery. It's a very active village with a tennis club, rugby, football and lots of other activities. There are some great country walks and bridleways. In fact, one of the things I shall really miss will be the lovely long walks on a crisp autumn or winter's day, coming back to the house, enjoying a nice hearty dinner, then sitting with a glass of wine round the open fire in the evening."
Harbury is very well situated for rail and road links. The M40 is just 5 minutes away, and it's 20 minutes to the M1. Leamington Spa rail station is 10 minutes and Birmingham international Airport is a very convenient half hour drive from the house.
"The whole house - and especially the gardens - has a real feeling of peacefulness," adds Paul. "There's sun in the garden most of the day and it's not overlooked, so you do feel tucked away, far away from the loud and busy world. There are some lovely big trees surrounding the garden; but I love the central area of mature trees - it provides the perfect shade on a hot day or shelter for a light passing shower. I will miss everything living here has had to offer, but the view from the master bedroom window - looking out and seeing nothing but greenery, trees and countryside - is what I'll miss most of all."
