INTRODUCTION: There can't be many prettier houses for sale than Woodside Cottage with its colourwashed stone walls and thatched roof and enjoying a delightful location opposite the village duck pond. The exact age of the property is unknown but it is thought that it might date back to the mid 1700's. The present owners moved into the house about eight years ago and using his skills as a builder combined with specialist craftsmen set about restoring and extending the house and have very successfully managed to combine modern standards of appointment and convenience with original character. Substantial basic works were carried out at the time including a new thatch, re-wiring, re-plumbing, central heating, double glazing, new kitchen, new bathroom, decoration etc. In brief terms the accommodation includes three reception rooms, one of which is open-plan with the very pretty kitchen, creating the large open-plan kitchen/living/dining space which everybody wants these days. Upstairs there is a very pretty character bathroom and three double bedrooms. The property enjoys the benefit of oil-fired central heating and timber double glazing. There are pretty gardens to front and rear and a rear driveway access provides plenty of parking. Fonmon is a tiny little hamlet adjoining Fonmon Castle and the well populated duck pond is a very attractive feature of the hamlet. Local facilities including shops, schools etc are available a short distance away in the village of Rhoose whilst easy access to the main coast road brings major centres within comfortable commuting distance including the capital city of Cardiff, Bridgend, Barry, Llantrisant, Cowbridge etc.
